New Selection - With Caption (Yeay! Caption)

Ardi wants to be a policeman but he is afraid of noises -- something Ardi began to be afraid of after the tragedy.

The tragedy happened on June 5th 2010, the day when an LPG cylinder on a friend’s house kitchen exploded, leaving Ardi burnt on most of his limbs.

Such tragedy often reported in 2010, a year after the government made a nationwide energy swift from kerosene to LPG on kitchen use. By June 2010, there were 36 cases reported.

Psychological pain ends longer than physical ones. It also changes human behavior. At certain moment, Ardi needs to be alone instead of to be with people. A corner of broken furniture on nearby workshop is a sanctuary.

Even though his friends know about the story behind the scar, some still like to make fun of it. When confronted, Ardi will answer “God made me, I am God’s”. But the scar undoubtfully decreases his self confidence. At times, he hides it or hides himself just to avoid people’s lingering over the scar.

A grandmother’s love. Since the tragedy, Ardi sleeps on her bed and plays a lot with her. A young boy in pain needs more love.

Ardi, 8 years old, a victim of LPG explosions shows his hand : deformed, bark-like, grotesque. A little by-product of a big government policy.
